APPEAL TO WORKERS

SUPPORT GOVERNMENT

| Rev, Clyde Carr’s Address At | Onehunga. I I BY-ELECTION CAMPAIGN i Press Association —Copyright. Auckland. September 1. An appeal to workers to abide loyally by the decisions of the Arbitration Court was made by the president of the New Zealand Labour Party, the Rev. C. L. Carr, M.P.. in a speech at Onehunga when the Manukau by-election campaign was opened. “Some workers are dissatisfied because they are not getting everything all at once.” said Mr. Carr, after discussing the restoration of the court’s powers. “Well if they are not satisfied with the court they should know what to do: they must be just as ready as employers have been for many years to accept the decisions of the tribunal which holds a mandate to carry out the policy of the Government, weighs all evidence and gives considered decisions” be continued, “I hope all talk of strikes and protest meetings is a thing of the past. It is the duty of workers to manifest the same fairness and consideration toward the Government as the employing classes have shown in the past months. “I appeal to the workers of Manukau, of Auckland and of New Zealand not to embarrass the Labour Government which is doing its best for the welfare of this country on whose prosperity we all depend.” he stated.
