Plaza Theatre. SONG AND COMEDY. Sprightly song hits abound in the mirthful action of “Anything Goes,” the Paramount new contribution to the gaiety of the screen, which will conclude its engagement at the Plaza 1 Theatre to-night. This screen versionof the original Broadway lilts boasts (he popular songs by Cole Porter that made this play the most sought after musical of the year. Ethel Merman sings “Anything Goes” and “I Get a Kick Out of You,’’ With Bing Crosby she sings “You’re the Top,” with parodies on that song furore of all time that made America top-consci-
ous. Others in the cast are Charlie Haggles, Ida Lupino and Grace Bradley. Bing Crosby finds himself aboard an ocean going liner, with the borrowed passport of a public enemy in his pocket. He must elude the ship’s officers while searching for a beautiful stranger whom lie believes to be in distress. A. would bo bad man, played by Charlie Haggles, assists him in his various disguises inorder 'to keep, out of the clutches of (he law, and within speaking distance of his charmer, both of which endeavours accupy all his time. The direction is by Lewis Milestone.
