NEW AIRPORT.

First Sod Turned By Mayor. IN TOWN AREA. Press Association—Copyright. Timaru, September 1. The first sod in the construction of the Timaru municipal airport was turned today by the Mayor, Mr. P. C. Vinnell. The airport which will be constructed in accordance with the A class of the British Air Ministry, is estimated to cost more than £25,000 and will provide work for upwards of 70 men for a year. The site is at the south end of the town on the borough boundary.
