GRAZING CATTLE.

“STRATFORD BENEFACTOR.”

Fined £2 And Costs In The Magistrate’s Court.

SECOND OFFENCE. For the second time within a few months. Frank McCullough appeared in the Stratford Magistrate’s Court to-day, charged with allowing cattle to graze in a borough street. The Magistrate this morning fined McCullough £2.

Inspector Dixon, of the Stratford Borough Council staff, in evidence, said that on August 18 he had seen McCullough driving about 50 head of cattle along Page Street. He had timed McCullough, and he had been on the street about 20 minutes.

This was the second offence by Me Cullough within a short period.

“Do you not consider that McCullough might be a benefactor to the Stratford borough, Mr, Dixon?” asked the Magistrate, reading from a letter written by McCullough, who did not appear.

“Some dry day,” continued the Magistrate, “a small boy may drop a match in the grass, which may blaze up, and beautiful trees may be scarred and blackened.”
