NEW JUDGE APPOINTED
MR. J. B. CALLAN, K.C., OF WELLINGTON Press Association —Copyright Wellington, April 2D. Mr. J. B. Callan, K.C.. Wellington, has been appointed a judge of the Supreme Court. Mr. Callan was born at Dunedin and educated at the Christian Brothers’ School and Otago University. He became a partner in the firm of Callan and Galloway in 1907 on the retirement of his father. He was lecturer in torts and dean of the faculty of law at Otago University. He served terms as president of the Otago Amateur Athletic Association and vice-president of the Dunedin R.S.A. He served in the N.Z.E.F, as captain of the third battalion N.Z.R.B. Mr. Justice H F. Johnston becomes ji'dge of the Court of Review.
