LORD HYDE’S DEATH

ACCIDENT ON SPRINGBOK HUNT IN AFRICA Press Association —Copyright Kimberley, April 29. Lord Hyde, the 29-year-old son of the Governor-General, the Earl of Clarendon, died in hospital as the result of a gun shooting accident while on a springbok hunt 40 miles from Kimberley. The bullet entered the abdomen and passed close to the heart. Lord Hyde’s younger brother and his father were also members of the shooting party. Lord Hyde was ahead when the shot was heard. The others found he had stumbled over his rifle and was dangerously wounded. He died as he reached the hospifed. Lord Hyde’s son, aged two, becomes Lord Hyde and heir to the Earl of Clarendon. All Government House functions in relation to the jubilee have been cancelled. Lord Hyde’s remains will be interred in England.
