DISTEMPER IN DOGS

A SIMPLE CURE A cure for distemper in dogs which It is claimed has not been known to fail has been received from Mr M. O. Butcher, of New Plymouth, by Mr J. Ebbett, who passes it on for general information: “Take equal parts of Neats Foot Oil and Pine Tree Turpentine (not

Mineral Turpentine), mix thoroughly and saturate dog’s neck, back and chest to end of ribs, wrap dog in woollen garment (an old singlet is excellent), and keep him in shed free from draughts. If dog is npt relieved in 24 hours repeat the above treatment. If dog refuses food give hlnu Bovril paste every two hours, continue with Bovril Until dog feeds himself. Feed dog' with Bovril as much as will be on a sixpence for sheep dogs and more or less according to size of dog. 'Arica Nut is an excellent tonic for all dogs. Dose for sheep dogs, a piece aboir. the size of a green pea, and less for smaller d*ogs. Do not give g/rcund AVica Nut as it often makes them vomit. All dogs require some raw meat. Cats will take distemper with disastrous results. This treatment has been used on apparently hopeless cases of distemper and has never failed.”
