Injuries- which proved fatal were suffered by Mrs- J. S. Jones, Jersey breeder of Bell Block,"at-3 o’clock this afternoon when he was proceeding to Hamilton with six. bulls for the national breeders’ sale. s*'d He was s riding in a lorry driven by Mr. H. J. Calgher. New Plymouth. Five miles north of Te Awamutu the vehicle was drawn across the roadside and stopped, enc bull having fallen down. Mr. Calgher climbed the high sides of the lorry and was encaged getting the bull on its foot when the vehicle moved forward. Apparently Mr. Jones attempted to enter the driver’s cab but slipped back, the twin wheels passing over the lower portion of his body.

The vehicle ran into the clay cutting, whereupon Mr. Calgher discovered Mr. Jones lying on the roadway. Medical aid was summoned and Mr. Jones was removed to Te Awamutu where he died two hours later.
