CAPONE’S CRIME SYNDICATE EFFORT TO STAMP OUT GANG FOR EVER New York Times Cable. CHICAGO, July 2C.—The United States Government is ready to deal the death blow to the Al Capone crime’ syndicate. A twoyear investigation by the “aces” of the Prohibition Department and other agencies culminated in a 50page report to the United States Attorney-General which was made public yesterday. < j The report reveals Capone’s amazing hold on the nation’s liquor traffic through a syndicate which operated virtually unhampered until the Government ran tire gang to cover through its pocketbook by the conviction of gangsters for evasion of income tax. Approximately 200 persons are accused and will be indicted in the last drive to stamp out the Capone gang for ever.
