A BABY RACE
r>.NE of. the queerest races on record y is taking place in Canada at the present time. The stakes are £IOO,000, and the winner will be the Toronto mother who has the greatest number of children between 1926 and 1936. In 1926 died Mr. Charles Millar, an eccentric barrister, He left. .£IOO,OOO to the mother having the. greatest number of children within 10 years. There are some sturdy entrants for the contest. The favourite until recently was Mrs. Bagnato, who, at the age of 117, gave birth to her twentieth child born in Canada. The betting now, though, is inclined to favour Mrs. Brown, 42 years of age. In the last 22 years she has had 26 children, and live have been born since the death of Mr. Millar, in 1926.
