THE RAGWORT MOTH.

Messrs J. W. Deem (Wanganui) and J. M. Smith (IVcw Plymouth), of the tieldsi staff of the Department of Agriculture, were in the Stratford district to-day in : connection with flt(e' proposed distribution of eggs of the moth which it is hoped will prove a scourge to ragwort. The authorities are convinced, after rigorous tests, that the moth will not attack useful plants, and 1 it has Retell decided to place eggs in various parts of the Dominion. The Stratford district has been chosen as' the distributing point for Taranaki, owing to its central position. To-day Messrs Deem and Smith were engaged hi locating suitable! places for leaving the eggs. It Is expected that the eggs will lie placed within a few miles of Stratford at an early date.
