THE WOOL SALES.

WHEN the state of trade, throughout the countries which are our chief customers for wool is considered, the conditions noted at the opening sales of the season are good. Woollen manufacturers declared they could net successfully do business with the price of the raw material at last year’s level, and uudei the circumstances wool growers m this country were, no doubt, prepared for a drop m prices. A gratifyingfeature is the keen demand, which seems to indicate that prices Will not fall further. Britain, the Continent and America are carrying fairly light stocks, which means that much of the wool bought at the earlier sales this season will go straight into production. The position certainly looks good and there appears nothing), in it likely to cause producers any misgivings.
