AMMUNITION CRAVES NEAR WARSAW. THE GERMAN RETREAT FROM THE VISTULA FRONT. United Press Association. (Received 8.55 a.m.) Petrograd, November 2. Near Warsaw a peasant found huge mounds surmounted with crosses and German helmets. He dug down and discovered piles of ammunition, beside German quickfirers. Reports from the Vistula front show that the Germans were thrown back to the vicinity of ' the Warta River; marching fifteen miles daily for a week over execrable clay sloughs.

Official: The Russians on the East Prussian front have made progress in the Vladislavoff district, and advanced victoriously on the other side of the Vistula, along the whole front. They occupied Petrokoff,. Opotchna, and Opaboff, and on the road to Opaboff routed the enemy's rearguard, taking 400 prisoners, quick-firers, and a convoy of provisions.

A Russian regiment near Lanacliovo, on the,San, reached the enemy's positions, and, profiting by a panic, stormed an Austrian fortified position, taking live officers and 500 men prisoners, as well as some quick-firers'.
