A midshipman, who was present at the North Sea battle, writes: ‘‘Of course, the German guns had about the same effect on ns as a Daisy rifle. German shipping companies are endeavoring to secure British vessels,
especially at New York, to repine# the Gorman ships till the end of the war, with the object of protecting German trading interests.
