THE TAKAPAU CAMP.
SHOCKING WEATHER. [Per Press Association. ] Dannevirke, May 18. After three days’ continuous rain at the Takapau casual camp, it has been finally decided to send the men homo to-morrow. The camp lines are in a terribly sloppy condition, and it has been impossible to drill. General Hamilton inspected the men this morning, and left later for Palmerston. The announcement to break camp was received joyously by the men this morning. OUR BOYS HOME TO-NIGHT. Dannevirke, May 19. The Takapau casual camp broke up this morning in wet weather, the Territorials going north and south by early trains. The Main Trunk men connect with to-day’s train at Palmerston, and arrive homo to-night. The Wairarapa and Wellington men return by ordinary express to-day.
