AUSTRALIA v. TARANAKI. LOCALS’ GOOD SHOWING. [Per Press Association.] The Australian cricketers met a South Taranaki sixteen at Hawera yesterday. Taranaki went to the wickets first and were all got out for 232. Australia had scored 203 for six wickets when stumps were drawn. Pratt, Taranaki’s best scorer, hit two [sixes and twelve fours. » TO-DAY’S PLAY. Hawera, February 11. The game was resumed in perfect weather at 11.30. Noble arid 'Dolling resumed to the bowling ol Blamires and Thihlop. hi Blariiire’s second over Xoble returned a sol t one to him—(2l2-7-30). Armstrong filled the vacancy, and at once began to hit. The fielding was good, boundaries being often saved, shortly, afterwards Dolling put one up ir the slipsi Blamires bringing off i magnificent catch—(22B-8-61). Waddj went in next, and runs came freely He scored well all round the wicket getting boundaries in quick succession. When he was 28 Ongley clear, bowled him-—(265-9-28). Waddy had played a vigorous innings, laying on the wood with plenty of power. Hansford, the last man, did not appear comfortable at* first. Armstrong pulled McCarthy to leg for a single and Hansford faced McCarthy. He played, three halls, and then snicked a fast one to the slips, Blamires bringing off a sensational one-handed catch.
