FELL 150 FEET.

A MOUNTAIN FATALITY.

QUARRY WORKER'S DEATH.

Word was received in Stratford yes-

terday by telephone from the Mount ' Egmont quarry that the services of a j

doctor were required, a serious accident having taken place; but a further message received a little later

stated that the doctors services were not required, death having resulted. It appears that a man named C. .J. Francis was working at the quarry with others and fell over a cliff loOrt high. When his fellow-workers reached the spot where lie fell they found that Francis was dead, his head having been crushed to a pulp. The body was brought on to Stratford by last night's train, and an inquest is to be held at 10.30 o'clock tomorrow morning. Constable McCowan is at the quarry to-day making the necessary inquiries. Little is known locally of Francis, who had only been working at the quarry for about a month, ft is believed that he has relations in New Plymouth.
