THE FITZROY TRAGEDY

(Received 9.20 a.m.) Melbourne, March 17

The name of the man concerned in the Fitzroy tragedy is Walter Edgar Erfurth, 25 years of ago, who was employed at a jam factory. The woman’s name was Ada Dolman, 23 years. It is uncertain whether the couple were married.

A lodger in the house states that Erfurth was under the influence of drink when he came homo.

RECORD OF SEVERE EARTHQUAKE SHOCK.

A very severe earthkuake, abort 2300 miles distant, was recorded on Friday on the seismograph at-River-view. The centre of the disturbance is supposed to bo at the Philippines.
