BURGLAR AND BABY.

San Francisco, February 15. Awakened by the cries of her 11-months-old baby, who was choking with croup ,Mrs Fred Morris, of Los Angelos, rushed from her house to secure medical aid. She was met on the steps by a masked burglar, who was carrying a revolver. The poor woman was in a state of anguish. “Do you know anything about babies?” she cried. “Sure, 1 do,” replied the man, “I’ve five youngsters of my own.” They both re-entered the house, and the burglar, without removing his mask, seized the vinegar from the cruet, mixed sugar with the liquid, and forced it into the baby’s mouth. Then he applied hot bandages and forced open the child’s throat with his finger. In a little while the baby was relieved and fell asleep in his arms. After he had gone the mother found the fivedollar hill she had, in her gratitude given him, wrapped in the infant’s clothing. When the police wanted to know what the burglar was like, Mrs Morris refused to tell. “He saved my child. That’s enough for me,” was all that sho would say.
