SUSPICIOUS CIB CUMSTANCES

(Received 9.25 a.m.) Hobart, November 12. The position at the North Mount Lyell Mine is unchanged. The workings remain sealed, and tiie fire is burning. Flooding is proceeding. It is raining heavilv. and Fie water is approaching the 850 feet, level, which will ho flooded in a fortright at the present rate. Probably, it will be three weeks before tho bodies can he recovered.

A quantity of cotton waste was found at the 600 ft. level at the Mount Lyell Mine. Tin’s is considered susand the matter has been placed in the hands of the poll- e. The discovery at Mount Lye'll is held to hive some hearing upon the fire at North Mount-Lyell. It is significant in view of the fact that there was no possible use for the waste where it was found.
