The following resolution was passed at Tauranga: “That this meeting of supporters of the Liberal Party tender .their hearty congratulations to Sir Joseph Ward on the splendid and straightforward manner in which lie has conducted matters and on the victory obtained during the late crisis, and express sympathy in the many trying experiences to which he has lately been subjected; also their extreme regret at his retirement from the leadership of the party and their high appreciation of the great work •he has accomplished in the past in the interests of true Liberalism and the prosperity of our Dominion, and their continued confidence in him as their leader, and that at no distant date he will bo persuaded to reconsider his decision arid again resume the leadership of the party he has led so well.”! 1 HON. One of the last acts of Cabinet 'before leaving office is passing the plans of the new Parliament Buildings, Before the work of erection was commenced a great deal of excavation and filling was necessary> and a start was made with this work yesterday morning. The principal officials of the Public Works Department were on the grounds during the morning laying out the first portion of the work. Next Saturday the foundation stone will be laid by the Governor or Sir Joseph Ward. It is expected that the building will be completed for the session of 1914.
