Captain Dearst, of the 21st Lancers, has given the Board of Agriculture £IO,OOO for the Meudelian experiments in improving the breed of steeplechasers. THE ROSEHILL MEETING. Sydney, March 17. " The principal event at the Rosehill meeting, the Rosehill Club Handicap, resulted as follows :—Crown Thistle 1, Eric 2, Woad 3. t ST. HILDA CUP. Melbourne, March 17 The St. Hilda Cup resulted: —Obi 1, Lord Illinois 2, Ivarathan 3. Won by a length and a half. There were twelve starters, including Gunboat and Chauvelin. The Steeplechase resulted :—Simple Simon 1, Sea Dog 2, Browpath 3. ALSO STARTED. (Received 18, 9.36 a.m.) Sydney, Marcii 18. Lady tyledallist and Sunburnt ran unplaced at the Rosehill meeting.
