Last night the Boy Scouts had an opportunity of learning something about actual warfare, Sergeant-Major Ballinger being good enough to tell tho hoys a few of his experiences in tho Afridi campaign in the Boor war. The Sergeant-Major besides making his lecture as interesting as possible took care to impress upon his juvenile hearers the many lessons to be learned from these campaigns, and the lecture should he productive of an increased attention by Scouts to the necessity for discipline and implicit obedience to orders.

The Rev. 'Butler did not give his lecture on Japanese methods of defence as was advertised, but this will he given at some future date.
