SALE OF WORK.

A BIG SUCCESS

The sale of work at Trinity Parish Hall in aid of the church funds proved a highly successful function, and tho big amount of £45 was realised. The attendance in the afternoon, though large, was doubled in the evening, when some great business was done and considerable enjoyment provided, both in the musical programme and the auction, which though intended to "be a .very serious part of the programme, proved in tiie capable hands of Mr W. H. H. Young to bo quite a feature of the evening. The manner in which the sheep changed hands was in itself a startling revelation of what the ingenious auctioneer can accomplish when hard pressed. The following is the musical programme, all the items of which were capably rendered and enthusiastically received by the audience: —Song, “Toss a Brown Baby,” Miss J. Butler, M.A.; song, “Storm Song,” Miss Elsie Jones; song, “Flight of Ages,” Miss Worthington; Violin Solo, Miss Adrian Hudson; pianoforte solo, Miss O’Leary. The stall-holders, and particularly tho ladies who so energetically dispensed afternoon tea, arc to bo congratulated on the capable manner in which they extracted the nimble sixueuse, and much larger sums, from unwary passers-by. it was not till the early hours of the morning that tiie gathering finally dispersed.
