SWIMMING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING HIGHLY ENTHUSIASTIC. SEASON’S OFFICERS ELECTED. ’Hie animal meeting of tho Stratford Amateur Swimming Club was field last night, considerable enthusiasm being evinced. Present: Messrs E. B. Stour (chairman), W. P. Kirkwood, J. F. Watson, J. Staples, H. Masters, E. C. Jebb, C. Whittington, I). Finlay, E. H. Kivell (secretary), 1). Corkill, J. Dowling, C. Ronnie, Ji. Slicaban, L. Sharrock, and E. Aastis. Apologies wore received from Messrs Malone, Fahey, Davey, Potts, and Dr
Carbery. Thq minutes of the annual meeting held on October 21st, 1910, were rend and confirmed. ’The report and balance-sheet wore read.
In moving the adoption of both, tba chairman congratulated the committee on the very pleasing aspect of the chib both from its financial side and its position of esteem with the public, for the committee had undoubtedly done good work last season, having combined progress with economy, finally emerging with a credit balance of £9 Us fd.
’The motion was carried with applause. Several now members wore here elected.
it was resolved that Mr P. Skoglund represent the club on the school committee.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Dr. A. R. D. Carbery; vice-presidents, Messrs E. B. Stour, F. Tyrer, D. J. Malone, W. P. Kirkwood, J. F. Watson ; committee: Dr Carbery, Messrs F. M. Marlow, A. J. Davey, D. Finlay, C. Whittington, C. S. Kelly, J. Staples, and H. Masters; captain and vice-captain, loft in hands of committtce; liandicapper, Mr C. E. Seabright; handicapper (local events), Mr C. E. Seabright to confer witii custodian; starter, Mr E. B. Stohr; timekeeper, Mr J. F. Watson; lion. auditor, Mr C. Potts; bon secretary, Mr E. H. Kivell ; assistant • secretary, Mr C. H. Potts; delegate to centre, Mr D. McFarlane.
The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d.
Mr Staples moved: “That judging from the chairman’s complimentary remarks upon the huge amount of valuable' work done for the club by tho secretary an honorarium of one guinea bo granted him.” Mr Kivell in thanking the members for their good intentions requested them to retrain from passing the motion. Tne motion was carried.
Mr Kivell then stated that all he had done for the club was for the love of the sport and therefore he would donate the guinea to the club. It was resolved that the secretary write to the School Committee for similar conditions as those granted last season. iA vote of thanks to the custodian for the assistance rendered tho club throughout tho past season was carried unanimously. Tho matter of officially opening the baths for the season was left in the hands of the committee, the latter to meet as early as possible. A jj r oto of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
