A DREADFUL DEATH.
ALMOST CUT IN HALVES BY A TRAIN.;!.) , PROMISING CAREER CUT OFF. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, November 15. A shocking accident occurred yesterday afternoon at Lake Roi l railway "station, between To Awametu and Ohaupo, resulting in the almost instantaneous death of Jack Burke, a young and highly respected settler residing at Kinkin','a few miles Lorn Te Awamutu. Deceased was returning home by train from the Ohaupo cattle sale, and was breaking the journey at Lake Road station. Before the train had fully pulled up, deceased jumped on to the platform and was thrown under the carriage, his body .being almost severed near the thighs. The victim leaves a young widow. Ho was married about eighteen months ago, and has a child two months old. pi is relatives are well known in the Taranaki .district.
