ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

(Per Press Association.) Gisborne, November 7

Charles Forbes, an unmarried man, aged 33 years, was run over by a truck at the Ptautahi quarry this afternoon, and died within half an hour. Deceased was driving a horse harnessed to a metal truck, when lie slipped and fell on the track. The heavily loaded vehicle could not bo stopped in time, and passed over the man's legs near the tnighs, inflicting serious injury. Medical aid was summoned, but the injured man lingered unconsciously for only a short time. Deceased is understood to have conic from America six years ago, ana had resided in this district for four years.

Dunedin, November 7. Lctita Janet Miller, aged six and a half years, the daughter of a Brighton farmer, died very suddenly yesterday morning. She was a healthy child, and went to bed on the evening before in apparently her usual state of health. At 5.30 that morning her father looked into her room, and she complained that she felt unwell. Shortly afterwards she became delirious. Mr. Miller telephoned for Dr. Wills, but by the time the .medical man arrived at 2.30 p.rn., the girl had been dead two hours.
