JERSEY CATTLE.
SALE OF MR. T. LUXTON’S HERD. Mr. Newton King conducted a successful sale of pedigree Jersey cattle on account of Mr. T. Luxton, at the farm, Waitara Road, on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of Jersey breeders and fanciers from all parts of the province. Grannie’s Girl topped the market. Mr. Luxton had a reserve on Grannie’s Girl and a yearling bull, Grannie’s Campanile Sultan —Campanile Sultan—Grannie’s Girl, of 100 guineas each. The bidding for Grannie's Girl ceased at 75 guineas, but Mr. E. Griffiths, her former owner, eventually took her at the reserve. Toe highest for the bull was 50 guineas, and at this figure lie was withdrawn. Mr. S. W. Shaw wielded the hammer in the sale of the pedigree stock, and was assisted by Air. George Hobbs in the disposal of the grades. The following purchases were made for the Stratford district:— Cows. Lot 2.—Blossom, Alagnet’s Boy— Bonny, born September 20, 1895, bred by the late F. F. Wright, 23gns; Air. it. 1). Harkncss, Ngaire. L’ot 3.—Viola’s Duchess, born March 29, 1901, bred by Lord Braybreoke, Essex, England, imported by tho late F. F. ..right, 33gns; Air. J. D. Healy, Stratford. Lot s.—Alelia Ann’s Alaid, Alelia Ann’s third son—Titus’ Maid, born October 15, 1905, bred by J. F. White, Alount Morris, New York, imported from America by Air. E. Griffiths, 38 gns; Air. R. Ngaire. Lot 6.—Sunlight, Guy Fawkes— Sunrise, born January 5, 1902, bred by H. F. Robertson, Auckland, 2SJ gns.; Air. E. Kirkwood, Stratford. Lot 7.—Sunlight’s Magnet, Cherry’s Alagnet—Sunlight, born September 1, 1009, bred by Air. Luxton, 38 gns; Mr. Saywell, Alidhirst. Bulls. Lot 9.—Oculist V., Larkspur Optician ill.—Primula, born January 22, 1907, bred by Mr. Paul Hunter, Porangahau, 19 gns.; T. Reader, Stratford. Lot 13.—Sunlight’s Abundance, Abundance IV.—Sunlight, born Augusts, 1910, bred by Mr. Luxton, 23J gns.; S. Hildred, lariki.
