TRAM FATALITY.
ONE KILLED, TWO INJURED. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, September 18. An accident occurred this evening on the Mount Eden tramline, resulting in a passenger named William Williamson being killed instantly and several others receiving more or less severe injuries. 1a o outward hound cars were concerned. The first, running down-hill, passed a lorry, which pulled off the track to let it go by. The driver of the lorry, not noticing the second car behind, pulled back on to the tram track, and tho tram,, struck the vehicle m the rear, smashing the front of tho car and disabling the air brake system, with tho result that tho car ran iway and crashed into tho car in front. Williamson, who was on tho rear platform, was crushed to death. James :>eddon and Miss Clark were rather seriously injured.
