INCOME TAX EVASION.

(Ter Press Association.) Gore, September 7. At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, before Mr. Young, S.M., R. and F. Wallis, Ltd., were charged on four informations with evasion of the income tax. They pleaded guilty. Defendants were wool brokers on a large scale, and it is alleged they placed certain proceeds of sales to various accounts, thereby showing liabilities instead of assets. Fines of £25 and £5 and costs £i) 2s were imposed on two informations. Two others were, withdrawn. An order was made, also, for payment of treble tax. The amount evaded was not disclosed in Court.
