ALLEGED COMBINE.

KEEPING lIP PRICE OF HORSE FEED. (Per Prcsß Association.) Dunedin, September 7. At to-night’s meeting of the Trades and Labour Council, a petition addressed to the Hon. J. A. Millar was received from over a hundred livery stable and cab proprietors, contractors, carriers, etc., in reference to the alleged existence in Dunedin of a combine, consisting of the principal stock and station agents, formed solely for the express purpose of keeping up the price of horse feed. The petition asked the Minister to give the matter consideration, with a vow of bringing into operation anti-trust legislation, and also advocated the removal of duty from horse feed imported from Australia. The petition was endorsed by cue Council, and will be forwarded to the Hon. J. T. Paul, M.L.C., and Mr. J. F. Arnold, M.P., to be placed before the Hon. J. A. Millar.
