HOCKEY.

STRATFORD v. KAPONGA. Stratford journeyed to Kaponga yesterday and defeated the local team by five goals to two. Tlje Stratford goals, all of which were scored in the first spell, were shot by L. Tocker (2), Dudson (2), and T. Malone (1). The win practically makes Stratford winners in the southern division, and at an early date they will have to meet Inglewood, winners of the northern division. The Stratford team, which suffered only one defeat, has never previously come out on top, Hawera usually holding the first position. At Inglewood yesterday Hawera ladies beat Whakatika (New Plymouth) in the play-off between the two 6nds by ten goals to nil. The game was not so one-sided as the score would indicate.
