FARMERS’ UNION.

TARANAKI PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at Hawera on Thursday. There were present: Messrs J. .Jones (president), F. J. Virgin, A. Voullaire, R. Lambic, W. Cleaver, J. Thomson, J. Swindlehurst, J. Davidson, R. Dunn, W. Rogers, and S. Forsyth. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs G. Proeco, W. Swadling, A. Hunter, T. Williams, E. Marfell, and E. Maxwell. The order paper for the Dominion conference, which opens at Wellington next Tuesday, was gone through with the idea of giving the delegates from the executive a lead on the important matters to ho dealt with. There are 132 remits on the order paperdealing with land laws, valuation of land, taxation of land, native lands, customs tariff, railways, public works, post and telegraph, defence, immigration, education, agricultural and pastoral, local bodies, Parliamentary, labour laws and a number of miscellaneous subjects.

The executive went into committee to deal with the question of finance, and on resumng it was reported that the following resolution was carried: “That the branches be written to pointing out the financial position, and an appeal be made for contributions.”
