THE POLICE FORCE.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, ■ July 20. It has boon definitely decided to abolish the rank of station sergeant m the police fence, and 'to substitute therefor the rank of senior sergeant. The tuuv present station sergeants— Sergeants King (Dunedin), Johnston (Chidstchurch), Darby (Wellington), and 'JTeanor (Auckland) will in future he senior sergeants, and the following have been promoted to the same rank Sergeants Stagpoolo (Oamani), Bourke (Wanganui), Haddrell (New Plymouth), Fonby (Ashburton), Reiter (Sydenham), Maekinnon ( Wai’ii), Ryan (Lyttelton), Rutledge (Mount Cook), Matiiieson (Wellington South), and Dart (New Plymouth).
