VISIT TO STALAG 344

RED CROSS DELEGATE’S REPORT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, December 16. The Prisoner of War Inquiry Office has received a report on the Red Cross delegate’s visit to Stalag 344. The conditions had improved since his last visit and no complaint was made regarding the food, he stated. There was a surplus of medical officers at the main Stalag. These had now been allocated to the various working parties and this had been a much appreciated move. Facilities for recreation and exercise are said to be better than ever before and soccer and Rugby teams visit the larger working parties. A musical show or a play runs usually two oithree weeks to enable all the men to see it. The distribution of mail is said to be very good. The inquiry office requests copies of letters dated August and later.
