DANCING SCHOOL BREAK-UP
One hundred children attended the annual break-up of the Southland School of Highland and Classic Dancing as the guests of the principal, Mr A. Sutherland and Mrs Sutherland. The function was held in the classroom in Newburgh’s Buildings, the time being spent in games and competitions. The prize-winners were: —Margaret Tait, Marie White, Jean Timpany, Mary McGill Brown, Elaine Ferguson, Margaret Williamson, Ruth Weir. Pairs: Kathleen Homer and Neil Cloughley, Florence Clark and Maxime Ward, Alister Tait and Denis Mathews, Margaret Eade and Mary Cuff, Ruth Weir and Terry Butt, Mary McGill Brown and Freda James, Elaine Ferguson and Murray Alexander, Jean Timpany and Helen Falconer, Margaret Tait and Margaret Walker, Coralie Roderique and Patricia Flannery, Leslie Williamson and Dorothy Brinsdon, Margaret Williamson and Doreen Wong. The competition for mothers was won by Mrs Canty.
