Mr Fraser’s Discussions In Washington

(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 24. The Prime Minister,of New Zealand, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, told the Associated Press that he was very pleased with his discussions in Washington with leading Americans on matters affecting the Pacific War and post-war Pacific policy. As a result of the discussions and his statement to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee the position of New Zealand and Australia, particularly in respect to the Canberra agreement, was thoroughly understood and the desire for a complete understanding based on international co-operation was appreciated. . Mr Fraser did not anticipate difficulties regarding air and defence bases in the Pacific provided the nations cooperated. He emphasized that without friendship and co-operation between the British Commonwealth and the United States there would be no guarantee of future peace. Mr Fraser, who is accompanied by Mrs Fraser, will speak at the, Anzac Day service in New York tomorrow. Mr Fraser called on the Mayor, Mr Fiorello LaGuardia, at the City Hall and. discussed Pacific affairs. Mr Fraser thanked the Mayor for the hospitality extended to the New Zealand forestry treiops. Ah Anzac broadcast by Mr Fraser is being relayed to New Zealand at 2.30 p.m. (New Zealand time) on Tuesday.
