DIVIDEND DEFERRED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 12. The directors of the Auckland Gas Company have reluctantly decided to defer the consideration of a dividend distribution until the end of the year, states a memorandum issued to shareholders. Up to the present the company has been unsuccessful in obtaining any relief from the Government either by way of a concession iq. taxation or authority to raise gas prices or even adjust prices paid by certain consumers who today are paying less than the present cost of manufacture. “Our negotiations with the Government are proceeding and we are hopeful of obtaining some measure of assistance or authority to allow us to bring prices into line with our increased working costs,” concludes the company.
