GENERAL ELECTION

Main Roll Now Closed The main parliamentary roll for the forthcoming election closed yesterday. The registrar of electors in Invercargill, whose office is at the courthouse, had a fairly busy time dealing with applications for enrolment. A good many people evidently confused the parliamentary roll with the municipal roll and mistakenly made application for enrolment at the Town Hall. Members of the Town Hall staff also had a busy time attending to people who made inquiries about the parliamentary roll either by telephone or in person. All persons qualified to vote are obliged by law to enrol. People whose names are not on the’ main roll should see that they are included on the supplementary roll. The date of the closing of the supplementary roll will depend on the date fixed for the election.
