UNUSUAL FROST A frost was again recorded at Gore yesterday morning when the most unusual visitation this winter was experienced. The roads and footpaths were covered with a thick deposit of rime, and at first sight it looked as though a light snowfall had taken place. The visitation was not a very severe one, however, only 7'/2 degrees being recorded at the Gorton street station and five at East Gore. PERSONAL.—Dr J. J. Gresham and Mrs Gresham, who are leaving Gore for Auckland, were bidden farewell by members of the Gore Methodist Church at the end of the evening service on Sunday. The Rev. J. Blight was chairman, and during the evening he made a presentation to the guests. Mrs R. W. McCreath spoke on behalf of the women of the congregation and Mr G. Anderson on behalf of the choir. Mr S. V. Baker, supervisor of the money order and savings bank branch of the Gore Post Office, has been released by the Army authorities and resumed duty in the savings bank branch, Chief Post Office, Christchurch, yesterday. ROTARY CLUB.—“The Growing of Linen Flax” was the subject of an address given by Mr W. Faithful, of the Department of Agriculture, at yesterday’s meeting of the Gore Rotary Club.
RUGBY FOOTBALL.—Wins were secured by Albion-Pioneer and Gore High School in Rugby football competition matches played at Gore and Mataura. At the hostel grounds, Albion-Pioneer beat A.T.C. by 32 points to 6 and at Mataura. Gore High School beat the home side by 28 points to 3.
