CERTIFICATE OF MERIT FOR SCOUT

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 26. The award of the Boy Scouts’ Association’s certificate of merit to Air Scout Graham Robertson Horne, of Auckland, in recognition of his services at a fire near the Frankton railway on January 20 has been approved by the Governor-General as Chief Scout. The stationmaster at Frankton, in a report on Air Scout Horne’s action, said the lad gave the first alarm of a fire which endangered valuable property, consisting of eight houses, and helped the firemen for nearly five hours until the danger was past. He also later by prompt action pi-evented a renewed outbreak.
