ARMY APPOINTMENTS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 1. Appointments and promotions of officers in the New Zealand military forces, gazetted tonight, include the following:— Temporary Staff.—Major E. R. Winkler, commandant, School of Artillery, is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant-colonel while so employed; Major G. R. Powles is appointed to the directing staff of the New Zealand Staff College with the acting rank of lieutenant-colonel while so employed; Douglas George Ball is granted the honorary rank of lieutenant-colonel and appointed director of Army welfare and education, Army Headquarters. New Zealand Infantry.—Major H. F. Allan is appointed to command a battalion of the Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Regiment and is granted the temporary rank of lieutenant-colonel. The following staff appointments are also announced: Lieutenant-Colonel A. A. Tennent is appointed assistant director of medical services to a North Island division; Major P. A. Bergman is appointed commander of the Army Service Corps in a North Island division; Major (temporary) E. J. Browning is appointed deputy assistant director of supply and transport, Northern Military District.
