FINANCIAL AID FOR WOMEN IN FORCES

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 26. The Minister in charge of the Soldiers’ Financial Assistance Board (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) announces a decision to widen the scope of the board’s assistance to enable women recruited by the W.W.S.A. for full-time service in the Armed Forces to apply for assistance. This means that women in the armed services are placed on exactly the same footing as men for assistance by the board. Assistance will be granted towards meeting necessary reasonable current commitments which cannot be met from military pay. No assistance will be granted towards commitments of the luxury type or towards payments on accounts and debts existing at the time of enlistment.
