OBITUARY

MISS ELIZABETH YOUNG The death of Miss Elizabeth Margaret Young, of East Gore, occurred recently. Miss Young was the youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William Young, who were early settlers at Gore. Miss Young took up teaching and began her career at Arthur’s Point. Her next appointment was at Longridge North and she held other positions at Sandstone and St. George’s School, Invercargill, before proceeding to the Training College, Dunedin.

After completing her training Miss Young was appointed sole teacher at the McNab school for a period, after which she was attached to the staff of the East Gore school. For the last nine years she had been teaching at the Gore school. Miss Young was considered to be an excellent teacher in general subjects, and she was a specialist in drawing and handwork. She is survived by two sisters, Misses Jean S. Young and Rosina Young, and one brother, Mr Robert Young.
