Mrs C. Middleditch, Dunedin, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs C. G. Boyd, Doon street.

Miss Sheila Looney, Ritchie street, has left for Wellington, where she has taken a position on the Post Office staff. Mrs Carlton Kain, Orari, who has been staying with Mrs Bernard Pinckney, Gleneagles, Edendale, has returned home.

Mrs J. Hargest, Rakauhauka, left for Wellington on Tuesday morning to attend the National Patriotic Council meeting.

The annual sports of the St. Johns Girls’ School, which were postponed last Friday on account of bad weather, are to be held tomorrow at the school grounds at 2 p.m. Mr and Mrs James Diack recently celebrated their golden wedding at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr'and Mrs D. Tyrell-Baxter, Spreydon, Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Diack are well-known in Invercargill, where they lived for a number of years.

At the St. Paul's mission sale, the Rev. C. J. Tocker, on behalf of the members of the Presbyterian Womens Missionary Union presented Mrs C. N. McEachran, who is leaving Invercargill, with a gift and wished her happiness in her new home in Dunedin.

Twenty-seven women from Otago and Southland who have trained as Voluntary Aids are to be selected for service in the Middle East. They must be unmarried, have completed their 60 hours hospital work, and bo between the ages of 23 and 34 years. Those eligible are advised to get in touch with the secretary (Mr J. F. Hynd).

The Air Force Relations Committee wishes to acknowledge garments handed in at the depot by the following knitters: —Mcsdames J. T. Bath, S. Craig, McCartney, W. F. Clouston, L. J. Thomas, Miss M. McKay, the staff of Macalister Bros., and the staff of H. and J. Smith, Ltd. A satisfactory amount of wool was handed out from the depot in J. E. Watson’s buildings, Tay street, on the depot days, Tuesday and Friday. The new supply of wool for the following month is now available.
