TODAY’S RECIPE
LOG CAKE 24 square malted wholemeal biscuits, 3 tablespoons grated chocolate, 12oz icing sugar, 4 to 5 tablespoons hot water, £ teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon butter. Mix sugar, chocolate and water. Warm slightly over a moderate heat, adding more water if required. Beat well; add the essence and butter (icing should coat the spoon thinly). Spread quickly, as it sets rapidly. Lay six biscuits in a double row of three each. Spread icing on top. Repeat until four layers deep. Ice top and sides and leave to set. Slice thinly.
