RESPONSE TO OFFER TO CONVERT LOANS

(Special) WELLINGTON, June 12. Reviewing the conversion operations today the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, said the Government’s offer of conversion to holders of securities maturing on July 15 and November 15 of this year and March 15, 1943, closes on Saturday next. Holders who have not yet taken any steps to complete the forms should do so immediately. The Minister said that applications for conversion received to date totalled £17,034,000, while requests for repayment amounted to only £240,000. This was most satisfactory, but the Minister expressed concern lest some people were under the impression that the securities would be converted automatically. This was not so. The choice lay entirely with the investor and in the event of eithei- conversion or repayment the choice should be indicated by completing the appropriate form.
