WEDDING

SAYERS-EDWARDS The marriage was solemnized recently at the Ohai Methodist Church of Jennie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. J. Edwards, Ohai, to John, elder son of Mr and Mrs J. Sayers, Ohai. The Rev. Brassell, Nightcaps, performed the ceremony, and the bride’s aunt, Mrs R. Bird, played the wedding music. The church was decorated with pink and lavender asters and autumn foliage.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a trained gown of ivory satin. The full skirt had panels of appliqued flowers at the back and front and these were repeated at the hem of the frock and train. The bodice, which formed a corsage in front, was fitting to the hipline and was finished with loops and buttons. The sleeves were full on the shoulders and formed points over the hands. Her tulle veil was held in place by a top-knot of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of begonias, roses, and maidenhair fern.

Miss Peggy Currie, of Nightcaps, was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of pale pink georgette, featuring a heart-shaped I neckline and a full skirt. The bodice I formed a corsage in front to match the, ' bride’s, and a sash of lavender velvet ribbon defined the waistline at the I back. The sleeves were fully puffed and loops and buttons finished the back of the frock. The loops were repeated at the hem of the frock and round the neck. A shoulder length veil fell from a halo of pleated tulle, and she carried a shower bouquet of begonias, roses and maidenhair fern. Two flower girls, Hilary Jones and Audrey Haswell, were dressed in frocks of pale pink georgette. Mr Andrew Sayers attended his brother as best man, and Mr T. Luke, the bride’s cousin, was usher. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Dianne Jones.

The reception was held in the public hall where Mrs Edwards and Mrs Savers received nearly 100 guests.
