SOUTHLAND’S TOTAL REACHES 5000

The initial objective of 5000 national savings accounts in Southland has now been passed and the exact figures will be known in a few days. The district organizer of the national savings campaign, Mr W. G. Nield, said yesterday that he was very appreciative of the splendid response by citizens in all walks of life. “The next step is another 5000 accounts,” said Mr Nield. The Dominion’s initial objective was 100,000 accounts representing 1 in 16 of the population. The result of the national savings flag competition for the two weeks ending last Friday will bo announced soon. The flag is at present held by Waikaka.
