PATRIOTIC CONCERT AT GEORGETOWN
An enjoyable concert organized by the Georgetown Patriotic , Committee was presented in the Georgetown Hall this week and £l5 was raised. Selections were given by the Civic Band and by the Invercargill Orphans’ Club orchestra under Mr F. Lange. Songs were given by Mr and Mrs J. Gallaway, Mrs J. Anderson, of Gore, and Mr Charles Penman. Mr H. P. Weston presented humorous items and the pupils of the Georgetown School appeared in a character sketch. Dancing items were given by Miss Rene Ward’s pupils and Misses Kathleen Sutton and Valerie Fox presented a dancing duo. Miss Mary Thomson’s party gave half an hour’s entertainment and Mr Dudley Wills, secretary of the Invercargill branch of the Young Men’s Christian Association, gave a gymnastic display. Mrs E. Sinclair was the accompanist for the evening.
